At Mayfield we aim to be accessible to all families, including children and families with special educational needs and disability (SEND). We are passionate about treating each child as an individual, this includes meeting the needs of all.

At Mayfield House Kindergarten our intention is to always accommodate adults and children whatever their individual needs.

All staff follow our SEND policy and are aware of the procedures in place to help every child to thrive.
Our named SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) is Heidi. The SENCo ensures the implementation of policies and procedures around SEND. Also, the SENCO makes sure support is in place for children with SEND line with the the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
We believe it is integral to communication regularly with parents about their child’s development and progress, including any concerns. Parents and children are at the centre of the decision making progress around SEND and we always taken on board their wishes and feelings. Furthermore, at Mayfield we are passionate about the relationships we have with children and their families; this ensures children, and families, can be are supported in achieving the best possible educational start.
Above all, at Mayfield we want to provide learning opportunities for all children in our care where access is open to everyone. The activities and learning opportunities we provide focus on accessibility for all. Also, we encourage child-led exploration and discovery which promotes inclusion within the playrooms. Mayfield’s management team are happy to meet with parents to discuss any concerns or needs. We work in liaison with other relevant professionals and agencies, for instance, to ensure children’s needs are met.
