As with our Indoor Facilities we aim to have the best quality equipment, made of natural materials and that are open ended to encourage creativity in our Outdoor facilities.
At Mayfield, there are multiple outdoor areas available for the children to explore and learn through hands-on exploration. These are found on-site and off-site.
On-site:
The Main Garden:
This is currently under major reconstruction, but in a few months we should have:
- Large decked area with decorated pergola and baby swing and hammock, dolls house, and children’s play house
- Outdoor mud kitchen, and fire pit
- Several sand areas
- Construction area
- Water play area
- New swings and separate slide
- ‘Dry river bed’ style gravel and boulders digging area
- Rustic climbing bridge
- Water channels
Furthermore, the Pumpkin house has their own small shaded outdoor area for constant easy access to outside, they also use the main garden several times a day.
Also, to the side of the house and under the treehouse, the area is equipped for free flow access from the big room. Construction, sand, water, and role play is permanently available.
The Orchard: with plum, apple, pear and mulberry trees.
The Chickens: our own very beautiful chickens, that lay special coloured eggs.
Off-Site:
In addition, we promote a love of the outdoors by exploring the local area and visiting places.
The Allotment: where we grow lots of fabulous vegetables, especially courgettes and pumpkins (by the hundred) ready to use in our fabulous meals.
The Forest: with the Wyre Forest on our doorstop we love to encourage the children to explore local nature.
All our produce made on and off-site in harvested fresh and used within the food we make.
